This new section of my site is dedicated to exposing the truth behind Niagara Region’s latest cash-grab: speed cameras. Without consulting the people of St. Catharines, regional council rushed ahead after being dazzled by flashy presentations from a U.S. for-profit company with a troubling history of bribery, close ties with the Chinese Government and empty promises of big payouts. The result is a program that shifts the tax burden away from the city’s wealthiest landowners and onto working and low-income families. Below, you’ll find the results of my ongoing investigative reporting into how this company courted councillors and how these costly, ineffective machines were rolled out in our community.
My Official Handout at my STOP ‘N BLOCKS [here].
The Region has partnered with REDFLEX Traffic Systems out of the United States, a company that has, in the post, bribed city officials to secure lucrative government contracts. Did the Region do any due diligence before partnering with this questionable company?

Why St. Catharines Doesn’t Need Speed Cameras on Regional Roads
The Niagara Region’s automated speed enforcement cameras aim to enhance road safety amid concerns about equity and effectiveness. Critics argue they disproportionately punish low-income families, lack immediate consequences for speeding, and offer no credible evidence for long-term safety improvements.
